Every year, the Silver Mountain Music Festival brings South Africa’s top musical talents together.
The event is organised by world-renowned musician and conductor, Richard Cock. And this year, he is joined by friends such as Percussionist Bryan Clarke, Tenor Siyabonga Maqungo, Soprano, Hlengiwe Mkhwanaz, Guitarist James Grace, Visual Artist Donovan Julius, Violinist Lucia Scott, Photographer Jacques Marais, Virtuoso keyboard player Kevin Kraak, Magdalena de Vries on Marimba One and And the Cape Town Brass Quintet.
Aside from the wonderful musicians, the Silver Mountain Music Festival also brings experts in conservation and the environment together.
Meet naturalists, including Prof Coert Geldenhuys, Christy Bragg, Andrew Turner, Krystal Tolly, Jeanne Gouws, Dr Martine Jordaan, Jannie Groenewald, Nick Kolberg as they introduce you (by day and night) to the creatures of the secretive Grootvaderbosch forest. In addition, you can learn new skills with marimba sticks and a paint brush.
Our festival is always paired with amazing food and wine and this year we will be tasting wine from Sijnn, Baleia and Renegade Wines. Enjoy beer and song from the Old Tin Hat and unleashing rebels with Rebel Gin and cheeky Cocktails from the Spirit of Hermanus.
The amazing food is provided by Skeiding Guest Farm and will be a highlight.
It’s the aim of the festival team to reach the children of the Grootvaderbosch Valley.
Each year, we reach out to rural communities. We bring music to these youngsters, through musical workshops.
And of course encourage their love for the outdoors and activities, through cycling and nature talks.
Our speakers also include founders of innovative products – all from the area.
