A Celebration of Youth | 9am | Heidelberg
A full day of youth celebration and activities with a focus on the rural community of Heidelberg. Richard Cock will work with the local schools, running musical workshops to inspire the youth. These will be presented by member of the Odeion String Quartet and Magda de Vries (Marimba and percussion specialist). This will be combined with other youth focused activities, including a fun ride at the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy mountain bike track in Heidelberg.
Guided walk with the local community | 10:30am | Suurbraak The conservancy has recently trained 12 hiking guides from the local community who have unique insights into living and working in this remote, beautiful valley. The walk and talk will be followed by a concert of favourite movie themes, for Violin and Piano, performed by Samson Diamond and Grethe Nöthling. This concert received ‘rave reviews’ at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown last year. Richard Cock and Silver Mountain Festival Orchestra | 3:00pm | Skeiding Guest Farm | Taste some Rooiberg wine, SaggyStone Beer or Clocks Peak Coffee and soak up the atmosphere, while the sun sets on silver mountains. A magical musical experience in a farm shed in the mountains. The concert will feature South African stars, such as Nicholas Nicolaidis (Tenor) and Magda de Vries (Marimba). The Programme will include songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, as well as favourite instrumental music by Vivaldi and some surprises.
