Elna Fourie, Langeberg Cheese
Elna Fourie trained at Elsenburg in 2001 and worked at La Rochelle goat cheese, where she was a herd manager and cheese maker. Later she moved to Alfalfa, a beef milk cheese factory where she worked with the well-known Willie Taljaard. In 2008, she received the Feta of the year Award. In 2006, she won the Agri Expo scholarship to complete a cheese course in Burgundy France, and thereafter introduced a new cheese, Elfa Reve. In 2008, she moved to Swellendam where she partnered with Antony Steven and established Langeberg Cheese. The factory has two lines, Gouda and Cheddar (as well as white Cheddar). The factory has been running for nine years. For the last four years, she has been involved in the cheese assessment that is held annually at the South African Dairy Championships.
