Your adventure to the mountains is about to begin and we can’t wait to welcome you to this spring edition of the festival. Please be aware of the following.
Route and transportation
Here is a map of the venues.
We strongly recommend that you check distances and travel times and load the venues into Google maps before you start your journey. Many of the venues are at the end of a gravel road so add time according to how good your car is on this terrain and how accustomed you are to gravel road driving. Note there is stop and go in place around Suurbraak and outside Swellendam to Jan Harmsgat that could delay your journey. All venues except the dairy tour are in google maps (see Dairy tour information in directions). We will try and sign all the venues as best we can when you get close so keep your eyes open.
Dress
We are in the mountains and rain can happen no matter what the forecast says. Please wear comfortable, closed shoes and put in a raincoat just in case. Things can be cold up here and some of the venues are farm sheds so bring a jacket. If it does rain, the show will go on and we have alternative plans for the outdoor activities and venues. All venues have benches or chairs but its not a bad idea to bring cushions if you want that extra bit of comfort. If you are night frogging, please remember your own flashlight or you console jar of glow-worms.
Tickets
Please bring your tickets (printed or ideally on your phone) as we will be scanning at the door. No ticket no access. Note some venues have limited cell reception so we recommend downloading the tickets before you arrive.
Support the local economy
This is a small community festival with very limited financial support and sponsorship. We are very grateful for the local businesses that assist us, especially the wines and venues. Please support them and buy their wines and food. Please come back to the area to support these businesses. Please don’t bring external food and beverage to the venues but rather support what is for sale as it all goes to a very good cause.
Donate
All the organisations involved in the festival are linked to the community and assist in environmental, social and arts programmes. They need your support. Why not make a real difference and donate to the work that is being done to assist rural communities. See your programme for details or https://www.silvermountainmusic.co.za/silver-mountain-foundation.html
Dietary Requirements
Several of the events have food included. Some of you have indicated your preferences and we will do our best to meet them but we have very limited options for very special requirements. Please convey allergies to us right away (WhatsApp 0793350269). We hope that you understand that we can only accommodate you if we know in advance. We don’t have multiple low carb or gluten free options. We do serve lovely fresh, farm food.
Bring Cash
We will have some credit facilities at most venues but reception can be a challenge and there are no cash machines at most venues. We don’t want you to be thirsty so please bring cash with you so that we can assist you more easily.
Contact
Things get very busy during the festival and we are a small team. The best person to contact is Aileen 0793350269. We will only be able to respond via WhatsApp and will probably not receive your call due to reception issues. WhatsApp us and we will get back to you as best we can. If you voice note, keep it short and sweet😊
Share the Word on Social Media
We are a small festival, and we would love you to share the word and post on social media and tag @SilverMtMusic.
See you in the mountains
