Dr Martine jordaan
Martine Jordaan is an aquatic biologist with a background in environmental toxicology and conservation science. She holds a masters in aquaculture and a doctorate in ecotoxicology and is an honorary research associate at the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity. To date her work has focused on indigenous fish and aquatic ecosystem conservation within the context of integrated catchment management. Recently she was offered the opportunity to work as a general fauna ecologist and has since been focused on diversifying her skill set and knowledge to include other taxonomic groups. She also has a keen interest in invasion biology and the interactions between invasive species, environmental variables, and pollutants. In addition to a long-term love affair with freshwater fish, especially the redfin minnows of the Cape, her other interests include running, horse riding and a new-found passion for gardening.
