Jannie Groenewald
Jannie is a practising Conservation Ecologist with 8 years of experience in bringing people and conservation together. He has an MSc in Conservation Ecology from the University of Stellenbosch. His expertise include a broad knowledge of the botanical species distribution in the Western Cape, with extensive field experience and a particular passion for the Cape Floristic Ecoregion. While a botanical expert by training, he has broad knowledge of all species, including the weird and wonderful things that inhabit our forests at night. He is particularly renowned for finding special forest creatures at night (including as frogs, spiders and chameleons). He has been involved in pioneering landscape conservation projects in the Renosterveld Biome and has an excellent understanding of the various challenges facing our environment in practice and legislation. He has extensive experience guiding groups of researchers, botanical professionals, enthusiasts as well as the public. Jannie's family are also farmers in the Grootvadersbosch Valley so we consider him as part of the Grootvadersbosch family.
