LUCIA SCOTT
Italian born Lucia Di Blasio-Scott started her performing career at the age of six in Sanremo (Italy). Lucia was one of the youngest students to obtain a Violin Diploma cum laude from the G. Verdi Conservatoire in Turin, at age eighteen. Seeking new horizons, in 1983 Lucia auditioned, in Vienna, for a position in the newly to be formed Natal Philharmonic Orchestra. Subsequently she moved to Durban, where she was soon promoted to Vice-Principal First Violin. Lucia has been in Cape Town since 1993. She was a Principal in the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra as well as the Cape Town Philharmonic. She is a dedicated Chamber musician and performs with the Michaelis Players and with Prof. Shirley Gie’s Baroque Series 4x2. She leads the Orchestra for Richard Cock in Last Night of the Proms, Fynart Music Festival (Hermanus) and SilverMountain Music Festival. She is part-time Lecturer at UCT - SACM as well as Bishops. Lucia is the Leader and one of the organisers of the Cape Town Pops Orchestra.
