Dr Peter Nilssen
Dr Nilssen is a professional Archaeologist with a interest in Stone Age or hunter-gatherer archaeology. He co-foundered the Mossel Bay Archaeology Project (MAP), which has made globally significant discoveries concerning the origins of modern humans and is currently one of the best funded projects worldwide. He has published in numerous peer reviewed articles as well authored a book on Hunting or Scavenging in the Early and Middle Stone Ages of Africa. He resigned from academia in 2006 and now works as an independent specialist (archaeologist) consultant for environmental impact assessments. He is actively involved in outreach, education and tourism related projects, aimed at sharing the story of our species’ origins and where we may be headed in the future.
